IGF-1 LR3 is an analog of IGF-1, which includes an N-terminal extension of 13 amino acids and the substitution of arginine for glutamic acid3. 

Due to the reduced binding affinity to insulin-like growth factor binding protein, the half-life is increased.

Compared to IGF-1, IGF-1 LR3 retains the ability to agonistically bind to the IGF-1 receptor, and therefore, has improved metabolic stability. Compared to standard concentrations of insulin or standard IGF-1, using much lower LR3 IGF-1 results in higher productivity.

GF-1 LR3 can stimulate type 1 IGF receptors, and induce a higher level of intracellular signal activation, thereby promoting cell proliferation and inhibiting cell apoptosis.
